Ophthalmology

Introduction

The Department of Ophthalmology was established with the inception of Govt. Medical College Korba in the year 2021. The department comprises of separate outdoor and indoor units and provides both services. Approximately 25,000 patients are examined and treated annually. Every year around 2,100 eye surgeries (Cataract and extra ocular surgeries) are carried out. The Department also conduct awareness and screening camps regarding blindness due to Cataract, Glaucoma and Diabetic retinopathy etc.

Objective

1. To offer an excellent standard in teaching.
2. To conduct research in clinical and community ophthalmology
3. To provide accessible, cost-effective, quality eye care.
4. To conduct awareness program on certain issues such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and eye donation etc.
