Introduction

The Department of Otorhinolaryngology, at Govt. Medical College, Korba is always known for its dedicated services par excellence. Apart from being the main source of dependence for the patients in the north chhattisgarh for major ENT surgeries, it is also an everlasting source of information for the seekers of knowledge in ENT and established in 2020.
In order to emulate with the needs of the patients functions as 1 distinct unit.

ENT provides OP services on Mondays to saturday; the diligent OP care is augmented with a well equipped Procedure room, curtailing the basic immediate need of Syringing, Suction, Position test, Incision & Drainage, Ryle's Tube insertion, Suturing of wounds etc.

The OP diagnostic services includes the facility of Videolaryngoscopy, Diagnostic Nasal Endoscopy & Flexible Nasopharyngolaryngoscopy thereby providing a well rounded care for the Patients apart from the clinicopathological services.

Equipments available

1) Operating Microscopes with teaching aid, High speed drill in operation theatre.
2) fibre optic bronchoscope/ nasopharyngolaryngoscope , Rigid Esophagoscopy set.
3) Microlaryngoscopy set, Sinus endoscopy set, , , Digital mono & bipolar cauter, OAE, BERA, Impedance Audiometer ,Pure tone audiometer.
4) Surgeries Done: The one units on their designated OT days provide their cautious and skilled plethora of services in the form of Tympanoplasties, Septoplasties, Endoscopic sinus surgeries , Mastoidectomies, Adenoidectomies, Tonsillectomies, Direct Laryngoscopies, Hypopharyngoscopies other oncological procedures; thereby focusing on Diligent Patient Care.

Activities

==> ENT deptt. is working on providing the facility of “Mook Bhadhir Bal Shravan Yojna”launched by Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh in Feb 2010. This yojna will help deaf and mute babies to get cochlear implantation done.
==> OPD runs on ground floor of GMC KORBA opd complex.
==> Total number of patients-40-50/day (OPD patients).
==> Total number of audiologic tests-10-12/day.
==> One major OT that function once a week.( Friday)
==> One minor OT exist in OPD Work 6 days a week.(5-6 cases/day)

Infrastructure

The Department is well equipped with the latest facilities to train the undergraduate students.
OPD Area: DOCTOR’S ROOM, MINOR O.T., MAIN OPERATION THEATRE, SCRUB/AUTOCLAVE ROOM , AUDIOMETRY ROOM.
